The discrete graphics card on the laptop has stopped working, is there a chance?

When loading a DNS laptop (it worked flawlessly for a year) - a black screen (the laptop works by noise, but there is no image). In safe mode, I was able to enter, did a system rollback for a couple of days - it did not help. I demolished firewood for discrete and integrated video cards, rebooted, everything seems to be working fine, put firewood on both cards (geforce 840m and intel hd graphics 4600), everything is fine, but when launching any toy, the same error Failed to initialize Direct3D pops up. I ran dxdiag - everything is fine with Direct X. By default, all 3d applications are launched with a discrete card, switched to an integrated one - everything starts. I put different firewood on nvidia with a clean install - it's useless. Karte kaput or is there any other reason for this behavior?

Judging by the description, the 3d-accelerator has flown. The problem is "iron", you need to solder the video chip using an infrared station + the cost of a new chip (expensive). It's cheaper to buy a new laptop. But, if you manage to find a person who will do it not for a lot - it's worth a try.

I'll take it out separately. If you have Optimus NVidia support, then you only need proprietary drivers from the laptop vendor. There is usually one driver that first activates the Intel plug-in and then the Nvidia discrete. It is put on a clean OS or after a very good cleaning of old drivers (not always the first time). If the BIOS has an Integrity/Switchable graphics switch and the inline is selected, then the discrete will not show up in Windows Manager. Even on some models of DNS beeches, like MSI, there is a hardware graphics switch.
