The difference in the strength of the current in charging a laptop?
Good afternoon, I purchased a charger with a 19V 4.74A output, but the laptop's input is 19V 3.42A. Is a higher current rating dangerous for a laptop?

No, it's not. A laptop charger stabilizes voltage, not current, so it will, within its capabilities, give as much current as the laptop takes.
