Text on the main page, is it necessary?

Hello!
After the development of the site, it is necessary to do SEO-optimization.
Absolutely all SEO-shniks unanimously repeat about 2 thousand characters that will reflect the essence of the site on the main page.
The site is made in a minimalistic style and such amount of text will hurt your eyes.
The question is this: do you have to do 2 thousand characters and there is no way around it, or is there still a solution that will combine business with pleasure?

Rather, they meant 2 thousand words.
There was once a "study" that the top 10 sites in the issuance of Google have an average of 2 thousand words on their pages. And apparently from there the legs of this recommendation grow.
Like, if you conduct a study in which it turns out that the top 10 programmers drink an average of 2 cups of coffee a day, then to get into this top, you also have to drink so many cups of coffee)
In fact, all this is shamanism. Download the google guide for webmasters and do what they recommend.
You need to understand that the standard Google search is actually a search for textual information. Like a search by images or audio recordings, but it is not called explicitly textual (apparently for historical reasons) and it displays only textual information that is relevant to the query in the top. Therefore, you should not forcefully cram 2000 words into each page, but rather make a section on the site with a blog, which will contain information on the subject of your site, and from this page users can go to the main page (where, for example, something is sold that is about blog speech) if they like your site.
