Because whoever is used to it uses it that way. There is no difference.
If you want to generalize: CG as a general class of all computer artists, a 3d subclass of CG artists who only do 3d graphics. But a 3d artist is also a CG artist (Artist). And CGI Artist is generally incorrect to say - "Computer-generated imagery" (Image generated on a computer), what does the person who created this image have to do with it, it's not clear at all.
CG - a person draws something on a computer
3d - a person draws something in 3d. It can be sculpting, or it can be a model of some kind of weapon for the game, for example (different tools are used for this)
CGI is usually about working with video and effects. But also on a computer, without a camera.
