Switching to ext4 in Android on HTC Desire?

It has been known for a long time ([ 1 ], [ 2 ]) that in the Android operating system, starting from version 2.3 (“Gingerbread”), that is, since December last (2010), support for the ext4 file system has appeared, so new mobile phones come out already with her.
Over time, however, earlier mobile phones begin to slowly crawl onto this operating system. For example, HTC announced on Twitter its plans to update HTC Desire mobile phones to Android 2.3 by the end of June.
Interested in this news, I want to ask you all a question: do you think it is possible (and desirable) to upgrade the file system along with the operating system? In particular, have the modders (who had started an unofficial port of Desire to Gingerbread earlier) bothered with this issue? Or is YAFFS (the old file system) just as good, so no one should worry too much?

Oh, the dative case...
YAFFS is slower than ext4.
But I, nevertheless, do not understand why a journaled FS is needed on a flash drive. It also hastens the death of the wearer.

Switched to ext4, did not notice the difference. If the flash drive dies, they will only be happy to buy a new one :)
