Switch to another specialty with a decrease in the course or stay to finish your studies?

Hello.
I graduated from the 2 course in the specialty "Information security of telecommunication systems". Unfortunately there was a feeling that this is not mine. I'm more prone to programming, I like to write code.
In the dean's office I was told that the difference in subjects is large and that you can go only with a decrease in the course. As a result, I have my doubts. So far, I'm considering two options for solving my problem:

  1. Complete my studies in my specialty, while simultaneously studying the language (I like Java), algorithms, bases, etc. on my own.
After - go to work Java Junior'om.
  2. Switch to the specialty "Applied Informatics" with a decrease in the course. Gain knowledge of Java and go to work.

It would seem that the choice is obvious, but I really do not want to lose a year of my life. Yes, and I do not place special hopes on domestic education.
I'm interested in your opinions.

Okay, go downhill. All the same, all students from the second or third year are already starting to work (even as freelancers). You won't lose anything.

Year of life? It's only a year...

And what if it turns out that the transition does not help? Will you switch again?
Ask about keeping the delay.

It was translated with the "loss" of the year and I do not regret it. As in this question, and in others, it's great to compare yourself not with others, but with yourself. If you understand where you are better off, then go in that direction. It's better to "lose" a year than to lose two (or more) due to listening to the wrong subjects.
