SVN, GIT for *.psd files or other binary data?

There are Photoshop files under 400 meg, or for example CorelDraw files or some other binary files on which different people can work in parallel.
Does anyone have experience using version control systems for these purposes.
Is there an adequate merger? How often do unresolvable conflicts occur?
excerpt from svnbook.red-bean.com/nightly/ru/svn-book.html :
“Subversion detects differences between files using a special binary algorithm that works equally with both text and binary files. „
excerpt from Wikipedia en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Subversion
“Also, for non-mergeable files (various binary file formats), you can use the lock-modify-unlock model.”
