Supermicro servers - is it worth it?
Good afternoon!
Recently, when selecting a server, I came across models from Supermicro. Namely, on the Supermicro SuperServer 5015A-EHF model . Never heard of this company before. Has anyone had experience with their servers?
Estimated software is Windows Server 2008 R2 + SQL Server 2008 R2. It can also be used as a repository with FTP access.

Well, the same class as Tyan - i.e. in principle - it’s quite a server, we have a supermicro (I won’t tell you right away which ones, I don’t remember) - 2 production servers are running, and nothing, they live ... -)
The server and the company are good ... But are you really going to drive Windos and Mysysykuel on this? I'm sorry then =)
Quite decent pieces of iron +), only more powerful options were received, they worked with a bang. Once there was a problem with the tale trains, which were more than 3 years old, they replaced it and flew further and further.
Decent pieces of iron, they are used by the selector for cheap dedicators, ask amarao about the operating experience. Well, in general, almost all servers are mostly the same.
normal servers. In our area, they are widely used in small companies, or if there is no money for a brand with support.
Normal company. We most often take platforms from them - we install memory, hard drives and processors ourselves. They have a cool solution - twin (in one unit, two independent servers, only a common PSU.)
There was a negative experience with them, so far only for cheap dedics.
The overall picture for four. All our servers are supermicro. Only one motherboard came across, in which the bios firmware flew off, and after the replacement under warranty this happened again. Now they are not released, you can be calm. They took supermicro as part of DEPO.
Servers are good, you can take. According to operating experience, it is no worse than the rest, even better in some cases (there is no binding to native components like HP, Dell, Intel and some other manufacturers). Operating experience - several hundred servers.
Good middle-level servers, in 09-10 I operated 5 pieces of 1U-19 "- it's quite normal, there were no problems.
Many thanks to everyone for the advice!
The conclusion was made as follows - you can take servers, but it is better to choose a more powerful processor.
Of course, it is worth taking only Super Micro dedicated servers for the entire time of working with them, there was never a failure or problems. We recommend ordering a SuperMirco server with a decent discount here: rack.menu
how to correctly decode the following information for Supermicro X10SRW-F

Ubuntu x64 14.04 LTS -- A2
A2 - SATA (w/o RAID, AHCI mode)
https://www .supermicro.com/support/faqs/faq.cfm?fa...
I understand correctly that the following parameters are required to install Ubuntu:
1. Created a RAID array
2. SATA in AHCI mode
I would like to install Proxmox + virtual machines on Debian 8.6 x64
On an extreme case is just Debian 8.6 x64
Who had installation experience, what jambs will pop up?
Will the HDD RAID 1 or RAID 10 array be correctly detected on the installed system?
