Strange number?

They call me for the second time. Everything would be fine if it weren't so short: +7 (142) 599 - 15 - 8
Can anyone tell me what it is or who?
And when you pick up the phone, they immediately hang up.
UDP: I didn’t try to call myself: you never know, suddenly the number is paid ...
Now I’ll call the operator and ask.
UDP2: The operator said that most likely it is Petrozavodsk and the number is cut off because of the 8 at the beginning by the phone - like this sometimes happens.
those. full number: +7 (8142) 599-15-8
I have an iPhone 2G. Apparently they have such a jamb.

Most likely, the caller's number is incorrectly identified, because there seem to be no codes less than 3xx in the +7 zone. It can be assumed that this is Petrozavodsk, and 8 "disappeared" from the issue.
You can try to look at the number in the details of calls - there it may differ.

My iPhone 4 also cuts off St. Petersburg numbers, instead of +7812ХХХХХХХ I see +712ХХХХХХХ, so far it has not been treated in any way, because the platform is closed :(

Such experiences always amuse me. Oh, who's calling me and hanging up? What's the difference?

In such cases, I always ignore the calls. If you really need - write SMS. And if it's not really necessary, then I have nothing to worry about.

Excuse me, what's strange about the room?
It is quite possible to have city numbers consisting of 6 or even 5 digits. Let's say we have a 6-digit number in Simferopol, and a 5-digit number in Kerch. Those. a typical number in Simferopol looks like +380 (652) XX-XX-XX

in theory, 142 is the area code, and the number is short due to the fact that the city is small. In Kursk, the numbers are also 6-digit, there were at least

six-characters (as in icq) actually exist. In theory, such automatic telephone exchanges can still work in small cities, but googling doesn’t tell you what kind of city ... But why they drop it is another question)

I once also received a call from a similar short ten-digit number (probably we are the chosen ones?), I picked up the phone in the same way, and then they hung up. Unfortunately, I still don’t know who (or what) it was;)
Regarding cities with 5 and 6 digit numbers, I live in the same one, but the federal number still achieves a code of up to 11 digits.
