"Sticking" context menus and text, Ubuntu 10.10

Sometimes, after clicking in the context menu, it continues to hang on the screen, and leaves traces of other windows on itself (As it used to be in Windows) There is a


similar problem with the text in the browser. If you select it and drag it, then it remains to hang on the screen on top of all windows.

Restarting Gnome helps. Where to dig? What could be the problem?

I would dig towards compiz, especially considering the old ubunta 10.10 repositories. I have xfce myself, and the first artifact listed sometimes pops up quite often. And, before I put compiz everything was fine.
