SSDP Discovery Service - what is it?

The following broadcast packet arrives on UDP port 1900:

M-SEARCH * HTTP/1.1

Host:239.255.255.250:1900

ST:upnp:rootdevice

Man:"ssdp:discover"

MX:3

ÿ˜À¨

Service overview and network port requirements for... states that this is the SSDP Discovery Service protocol.

1. How far do such packets go with a crookedly configured routing?
2. What would be the answer to this request so that, for example, a network mousepad appears in the network environment of the requester.

To the maximum, I would like to answer exactly the mouse pad, but if this is not possible, then at least pretend to be some kind of network device. How difficult is it to form a response that would show any device in a Windows Network Neighborhood?

SSDP is used to search for UPnP devices ( Universal Plug and Play )
1. Usually no further than the first router
2. You can pretend to be any UPnP server (for example , a light bulb ). If you really want a rug - that is, the Basic type of device (without any control), to which you can assign the name "rug".
All standard device types upnp.org/sdcps-and-certification/standards/sdcps/
