SSD & snow leopard

I bought myself a Crucial C300 128 Gb, put it in an old MacBook 2.1

, and I couldn’t think of a better investment of such an amount for an update :)

I thought about taking a new MBP, but decided to wait for a new release. what came out in January is the last release in the Unibody case, I'm waiting for something interesting :)

So I'm very happy with the broom, I like everything, the download has doubled, provided that the throughput in my laptop is much lower than the broom can support.

But then I started thinking about TRIM, the system information is
bit.ly/liX4my

and here is an article on how to enable it
lifehacker.com/5803331/how-to-enable-trim-on-your-macs-solid+state-drive

but there is a phrase that says that if the broom has a built-in garbage collector, then you don’t need to turn on the trim, and here, too, it seems like they are talking about it forums.crucial.com/t5/Solid-State-Drives-SSD/Does-c300-has- garbage-collection/td-p/10695 in the end, I didn’t really understand :) do I still need to patch to enable trim? Or will the built-in garbage collector do the same? And what will happen when the lion comes out? does anyone have experience? my OS version is 10.6.8
Should I Use TRIM Enabler?

TRIM Enabler won't work for all SSD users. You should not use TRIM Enabler if:
...
Your SSD already has built-in garbage collection. TRIM and garbage collection are similar, but they are not the same thing. Unfortunately, for some reason, the Apple driver for TRIM seems to conflict with drives that have garbage collection built-in to the controller, so you won't want to use it. It'll actually decrease your drive's performance.

Install update 10.6.8. One of the changes is improved SSD support. Lion has it by default. I have no problems with Lion GM on MBP.

In my opinion, the current MBP is quite up to date - sandy bridge, memory up to 8 gigs, vidyuha standards. And what do you think will be radically new in the next generation IBP, what is worth the wait?

@rastych

Trim enabler is needed, without it there will be no support for this very useful function. By the way, this patch also works wonderfully on 10.7
