Sprites or svg icons?

Hello. A crossroads question arose. What is better to use now in 2017, sprites based on raster icons as a background or svg icons? What are the trends now? Intuition tells me that the icons in the raster are last year's snow, or am I mistaken? What are the arguments for/against? Does heavy use of the SVG format have a big impact on performance?

Arguments for SVG:
1) because Since it's a vector, the icon "weights" the same regardless of size
2) depending on how the icons are connected, their style can be changed via CSS . this is a vector, then you can forget about skeuomorphism, it is not in trend now, of course. but xs. what kind of icons are supposed to be there 2) if the size of the icons is small (for example, 12x12 pixels), then in some cases PNG will "weigh" much less 3) support for old (especially mobile - Android 4.3, iOS6) browsers leaves much to be desired Arguments against raster (JPEG, PNG): 1) the larger the size, the greater the weight 2) if you need to change the color of the icon, you need to run a graphics editor or call a designer
Raster arguments:
1) supported even on Nokia 3310
