Sphinx indexes the data, but the search from the site does not work, what should I do?
Good afternoon, can anyone help with wise advice. the problem is this:
I installed Sphinx on vps, registered the necessary config, via SSH, I call the full data index, everything is indexed, there are no errors, the launch of everything that is needed is registered in the crown. The site on LiveStreet, according to the description, picks up the sphinx without problems from the box, but the search does not work.
I end up with working indexing, but not working search on the site, when I query it, I get "Surprisingly, the search returned no results."
Therefore, the conclusion is that the site does not see the sphinx. Who stumbled, please help, I'm already tired of fighting, I haven't slept normally for 3 days.

Solution: after a very careful examination of the sphinx.conf file, I found jambs in the form of double slashes in the paths
path = /var/lib/sphinxsearch/data//topicsIndex
wordforms = /var/lib/sphinxsearch/data//wordforms.txt
and removed their
path = /var/lib/sphinxsearch/data/topicsIndex
wordforms = /var/lib/sphinxsearch/data/wordforms.txt
Turned off searchd. made a full index, launched searchd and after that everything worked on the site)
If it still doesn’t work, then try changing the config file. Usually the one that comes with the engine is suitable, the main thing is to correctly write the paths in it.
You forgot to set up the site through the sphinx, hire an admin, he will fix everything for you in an hour or two
