There aren't many books on this subject. There are only two sensible books published in the West, they are not translated. As it is now called, I will not say. Found in RuNet about two years ago. Working with sound is a bit of a metaphysical science than an exact one. Everyone has their own secrets, and books give only little advice, or overload the reader with formulas on physics how sound waves are distributed, which, in general, does not help in any way in working with sound. Written in order to make the book thick and the reader did not regret that he paid 50 bucks for the book.
The only thing to say. About the difference between the Russian school and the Western one. It is considered important for the Russian school to take the voice to the background. This can be seen in Russian serials, where the music drowns out the voice of the actors. This is probably why Mikhalkov decided to give the sound mix to the French. :)
Classic - "The Art of Mixing" by Gibson, a must-read. Anti-classical - Semiletov's "Heresy of Sound Recording" is also good to read in order to never do this, or to understand where earless sound engineers come from, or for lulz.
What level are you, sorry? Because reading it, of course, is good, but work is with sound.
