Software for synchronization and backup?

I was surprised to find that the software on the Western Digital external drive given to me on the DR is completely poor. The backup program allows you to select file types (documents, music ...), not specific directories, and the possibility of synchronization is not provided at all.
Please advise the software of the day for backup and synchronization.
I have the following backup requirements:
1. Specify how many versions for each file to store
2. Ability to restore without special software - so that there is a directory with the latest versions
3. Of course, the ability to specify which folders to back up
