Skype eats a lot of RAM?

I think that many have noticed that the latest versions of skype under Windows take up an unreasonably large amount of space in RAM. More than 100 meters in a collapsed state is a lot. Skype 4.0 also took no more than 40 meters.
Has anyone tried making it use less memory? Are there any settings or maybe True programmers wrote a patch? Something tells me that he is not supposed to eat so much, and you can take away the excess.
PS I haven't been banned in Google, but so far I've only found forums discussing the problem without any solutions.

To be honest, I bought ANOTHER 8GB over the weekend for 45. I do not see a problem to increase the RAM. Even 8GB for an average IT specialist (web, design, software) is more than enough.
The beeches cost about the same.

So far, the only solution I've found is to use version 4.2.0.187 on a laptop and version 3.8.0.188 on a netbook. They run under Windows 7, consume RAM quite acceptable.

Downgrade and disable updates, I did this as soon as Facebook integration appeared.
It's like off-client ICQ, each new feature brings with it new minimum requirements, only here they don't give a choice with clients.

in my ubuntu skype takes ~ 48mb, hanging in the tray. under windows, it is too “overdressed”, and even integration with facebook is finishing off

You are still lucky. On Macs 200 meters.

I'm afraid that there is no such possibility :/
It is also buggy the farther the more.
There are only two solutions. Either buy more RAM, since it's cheap today or install the old version. Which I did by the way. It doesn't run like new though.

There is another alternative! Install Miranda, it supports the Skype protocol, and even allows you to make calls.

Did you disable the supernode?

I was also somehow puzzled by this question, but I didn’t find anything better than just turning off the supernode and / or downgrading the version.

100..200M? I have 688! Just kicked him out. And FireFox generally survived up to 4G! I installed an ad blocker, it became a little easier - up to 2G.
