Look in the direction of frameworks and do on them - at least there will be some benefit.
And, in general, put two monitors on one browser, and more often Google is there than your site, on the second storm.
And, in general, smoke work with infoblocks, a news component.
I worked a lot with this g ... I mean, I worked a lot with this CMS, if you want - you can write questions to me on Skype, I can easily answer the little things. I don’t think that you will need anything seriously more than deploying Bitrix, and creating a main template based on your layout.

It's worth starting with the purchase of 1C Bitrix :)
Read off. Bitrix docks and, in principle, twist Bitrix on the localhost.
My IMHO - "desirable" - a great reason to use something less voracious and specific.

Bitrix is a rather complicated system. Even if you have already worked with other CMS.
In any case, you should start with official courses , at the same time you will receive certificates, which may come in handy after graduation.

I have been working with Bitrix for 6 months. I started with courses (see playlists for course 1, course 2 https://www.youtube.com/user/1CBitrixChannel/playlists ). In the first courses, the integration and use of components are described in detail, in courses 3, 4, the use of api in development is described. After the first viewing, the courses (course 3, course 4) may seem incomprehensible, but over time everything will fall into place.
And it is very useful to look at the documentation https://dev.1c-bitrix.ru/api_help/ . It will come in handy after completing the courses and when.
I wish you good luck with your degree
