Since when is Windows activated?

I recently bought a laptop - a handsome v5 (acer). With him, of course, came with Windows 8.
In the store, I explained to the seller that I didn’t want to activate Windows, but I want to return it for compensation. To return, you need that Windows is not activated.
Actually, the question is: since when is Windows activated? The store turned on the laptop to check - it booted up to the language selection window, then I just turned off the power. Do I have an active Windows or not?

Click on my computer with the right mouse -> the property at the bottom will be the line Activate Windows
It will be written there.
