Similar to vqmod for wordpress?

WordPress has a filter system, but sometimes it's not enough. You have to edit the WordPress core files and plugins.
After the next security update of the ever-leaky WordPress, all changes are lost.
It would be nice to have an OpenCart equivalent of vqmod for WordPress.

This is the first time I meet a person who rules the core of WordPress. This is fundamentally wrong. Better study this very core and find out what amazing things you can do with it.

You should never edit kernel files! WordPress has a whole bunch of hooks and filters, and plugins too, to hang your functionality. And it needs to be written in functions.php in the theme folder. And it's not clear from the question what exactly you want to do.
