Similar to bitlocker for Linux?

There is such a wonderful thing truecrypt, only it does not allow you to encrypt the disk on which the operating system is running, but only creates a virtual encrypted disk. Is there a bitlocker option for Linux, so that it encrypts the entire disk and, if desired, does not depend on the diatribute? Thanks

Ubuntu installer since 12.10 has an option to encrypt everything except /boot (and wheezy too).
And so - dm-crypt + LUKS

Truecrypt allows you to encrypt a disk with an operating system! I have archlinux on my laptop. Loading from a flash drive, then the partition is decrypted with a hook and the system boots.
