Should you use Cloudflare in 2021?

I'm doing a new project and I want at least a little protection against ddos ​​attacks.
The free cloudflare plan seems to be a good fit for my task.
But I often heard that RKN blocks the IP of one site and some other sites on cloudflare also get blacklisted and become blocked on the territory of the Russian Federation.
How common is it? Is it still worth using Cloudflare for my task?

We've been experiencing too many errors over the past week due to Cloudflare, such as 522 error - timeout. So we're thinking of dropping them. If your site is focused on one country, then I think you can do without Cloudflare.
