Should Ubuntu be installed on an external HDD?
Hello. I bought myself a laptop with an SSD and Windows, I want to install Ubuntu for myself, but demolishing Windows or putting it next to it is not quite an option, I thought to put it on an external HDD along with a bootloader. So, the question itself. Will there be any drawdowns in the speed of this OS on an external HDD? Or maybe other problems of such use? Thank you.
PS I put for Java development.

If an external HDD is connected via USB 3.0 or eSATA, then there will be no difference in speed, if via USB 2.0, then for modern HDDs, the speed of the screw will be cut by 1.5-2 times. But drawdowns will be noticeable only at times when the system is heavily loaded.
