Should I use jade or another templating engine for a cms site?

Hello!
There is a project on Drupal, now I am doing the front-end part. I decided to study jade in parallel.
1) Is it a good idea to use jade in conjunction with drupal?
2) And in general, are html template engines / preprocessors invented only for the front-end, or can they be conveniently combined with php and another backend?

You can use jade for development using the jade-drupal package:
https://www.npmjs.com/package/jade-drupal
At least the readability of the code will increase.
