shta? if you can "insert the connector and connect the wires", then why solder? the question is not very clear. in general, judging by the photo, you still need to solder the starboard rail. the question is whether to solder a straight line or an L-shaped one? Well, I would say that it depends on how the device will look. if the card will be brought from above by arduins, then solder a straight line. if the board will stand perpendicular to the arduino, then it will be L-shaped. but in general, I'm somewhat not sure that this is really a shield for an arduino .. most likely it's not a shield, but a separate radio module. then the question is whether to solder the cable directly into the board or solder the connector so that everything is collapsible? Well, if the length of the cable is possible to change in the future, then of course it is better then to make the cable replaceable through connectors on both sides. but if not, then I think you can solder it into the board, so that there would be fewer glitches due to the dropped connector.

if you are talking about the connector on the RC522, then you still have to solder. In my experience, it soldered well with acid - only then you need to remember to rinse.

In this case, soldering is necessary, there is not a connector on the board, but holes for the comb, which is already part of the connector.
