Should I now learn ActionScript programming in my case?
Good afternoon everyone.
I work as a game designer, but I really want to try myself as a programmer.
The client part of the games in our company is written in AS. And I have the opportunity to take on small tasks when I get enough knowledge to figure them out.
I have doubts because of what I read about AS on the Internet: a very foggy future. Someone writes that it does not exist at all and it is high time to forget about the language.
At work, one of the programmers said that for browser games, this is still the best choice. And in my case, to start teaching him is a justified decision in general. And if necessary, I can quickly relearn, because the principles of programming will already be familiar to me.
I really want to hear your opinions, as I am still full of doubts and from my height I cannot assess the situation and make the right choice. Does the plus of "being able to start working in a team early" outweigh the minus of "a language with no prospects"?
Or is it still worth choosing another EP?

+ you will be able to work in your own team
+ over time you will be able to switch to Java
- to learn a language at a level sufficient for game development, you need to spend many years
- without experience you will have to do very routine tasks, no creativity
UPD: I was corrected here so no more cons, but only reflections
* how many years the language will still exist, but in general I would prefer the rapidly growing mobile development (Java, Objective-C, Swift)
* other disadvantages are canceled
Start with something, and then try something else and draw a conclusion for yourself.
Yes, start learning ac3, the command that will tell you is a huge +, then you will climb onto the tighter java, if there is a desire, it will be quite comfortable to switch.
