Should I make my own VPN or PPTP?

There is a task on a working VPS to make a VPN or PPTP
from here 2 questions:
1 what to choose? openvpn or pptp
2 the task is to make it as easy as possible for any devices (enter IP, login and password)
I read about installing openvpn here - it's easier to install and configure the entire LAMP stack than to configure it and generate certificates - is there anything simpler?
The task is basically the same - an encrypted tunnel from any device to a white IP and further to the Internet, there will be no torrents, you just need to be constantly in touch (SIP, telegram, etc.)

pptp - nothing needs to be installed.
openvpn - requires client installation

Does anyone else use PPTP? It is broken long ago and irreversibly.
Without understanding how a VPN works, you will be bugged very quickly by various well-wishers.
