Should I delve into Java to write for Android?

I'm learning Java, I want to write for Android.
Enough knowledge of syntax and basic knowledge (classes, interfaces, etc.) or need to delve deeper into the language?

Collections, Concurrency / Multithreading and Generics - at least if you don't know.
I just encountered such a problem myself that there are gaps in these areas.
