Should I change the engine of the online store?

Good day to all! Give advice, preferably practical.
The question is in the title. Briefly describe the situation.
Online store powered by Webasyst. At the moment, quite a lot of improvements have already been made. Basic: accounting for goods by 2 characteristics, synchronization with 1C (on-line), several warehouses. Lots of little things. Almost everything is done soundly, it has been working for more than a year without any complaints. But! It becomes more and more difficult to refine the functionality, and the plans are mountain.
I myself am not a programmer, but a customer. I can judge the complexity of the improvements only according to the words of the programmer, but there is no reason not to trust him.
The plans for this project are grandiose, that's why I'm asking a question. Perhaps someone has been in a similar situation. I would be grateful for any advice.

Since you judge the complexity of improvements from the words of a programmer, maybe you should ask him your question?

The worst thing you can do is tell the programmer: "You're cheating on me dude, do it better!" and slip him another CMS, being a completely incompetent person in this matter.
Specifically, no one will give you an answer to your question, because. you need to look at the code and your grandiose plans, so either hire an auditor or just change the programmer.

Fully agree with @evnuh .
I see several solutions to the situation.
1) Before it's too late, look for another, more flexible platform for e-commerce
2) Give the site not to a programmer, but to a normal studio (which you can trust), write technical specifications correctly, and follow the work.

how touching, exactly right now I am redoing the online store from a self-written engine to opencart. well, if all such plans are doher and more, then all the same, the new engine is in your hands. and this advice: if you trust the programmer, then give vent to action and listen to what he says. Right now I have such a thing that I need to completely transfer the old design to the new engine, although pushing a new design is lard times easier and it's such a longing that words cannot describe.

I work a lot with any engines. Requests for improvement of the functionality of webasyst lead me to mild horror. In short, they take 5 times more time than on the same opencart. Not to mention that almost all the changes requested for webasyst are ready-made in opencart (out of the box or modules). About architecture, and through what place everything is done - I will not say anything. About the layout of templates - too.
