Should I buy a Macbook Pro Retina 13" Late 2013 in 2017/2018?
Tell me, is it worth taking the 2012/2013 proshka now? Accordingly, under the upgrade. Increasing the RAM to the maximum, installing a new ssd, installing a capacious hard drive, replacing the battery (because it will be 100% damaged), and something else can be updated on the outside.
Why it:
1. these are the latest models, where you can put in RAM and ssd, throw out the drive
2. the price for them is lower
3. like you can find with intel i5 / i7
It is supposed to render video from the premiere, collect java builds, write js code.
Estimated budget $600-800

Now only the MacBook Pro 15 of 2015 is left of the good, the last one (the one with the touchbar) is characterized even by avid apple growers as Ґ.
Think about this. Is this your main job? Do you earn income from this?
If so, why save on the tool? Buy a new top-end macbook - it will last you 5-7 years of work. Yes, it will be expensive. But if you are an established specialist and get a good income, then such a purchase will pay off in a couple of months.
If you wish, you can even take a loan, because in the end you will earn much more than it costs on this tool.
With so many problems and headaches on the new 2016-2017 Macs, it's best to stick with the 2015 Mac.
1. Keys stick, clicks of individual keys are much louder than others

2. When working through Bootcamp on Windows, it quickly discharges, since the integrated video card is activated
3. For some people - when exiting sleep mode with an external display connected,

4. When using the Internet intensively Wi-Fi falls off

5. If you shake the Mac from side to side, then something rattles inside.

6. Mac makes strange clicks at rest.
7. Reduced operating time, 10 hours - a provocation, actually works a maximum of 5 hours when surfing via Wi-Fi.
8. When you close the lid, fingerprints from the keyboard remain on the display after opening.

9. Non-repairable. According to iFixit, Macbook pro 2016-2017 scored 1 out of 10.
10. The SSD is soldered into the motherboard. If he suddenly flies, then you have to change it all completely.
Googling for "MacBook Pro 2017 issues" and you'll find over 10 listed flaws and bugs.
IMHO, it's better to stay on the 2015 Mac for now.
In 2018, a new Mac will be released on the CannonLake architecture using a 10nm process with support for 32 GB of RAM.
Again, whether there will be jambs with Wi-Fi, a video card, a keyboard is a question.
In 2013, there is no longer a drive and a hard drive. And it is in 2013 that it is no longer possible to upgrade, EMNIP. This is exactly the model I have now, the American model. Completely satisfied. I would not look at the 2012 model, too old.
If this is a retina since 2013, then: on the retina it is no longer possible to replace ssd and RAM as before. I did not encounter soldering, but I think it is difficult because of the security of the system. Most likely just replacing caps and batteries. You can even find dead batteries. As I understand it, they are all with i5, i7. $ 800 is now the limit of the minimum for the retina, perhaps there are single options cheaper by 2-3 tr.
I can’t say anything about proshki not retinas. I will only assume that it is possible to implement what you described for this budget. But is it worth taking a non-retina in 2017? - I do not think so. If there is a daily interaction with an iPhone, starting from the 5th or a mini iPad, starting from the mini 2, then you will break your eyes on it.
Well, with such an upgrade, you can take it. But considering how much you will spend on this whole thing, I would consider buying something newer.
I own this laptop. Of all that you have listed, you cannot change only the RAM, since it is soldered on the motherboard. The SSD can be replaced. I myself changed the stock ssd to 128 gigs for Kingston Hyper X Predator PCI-E 2.0 240GB through a special adapter - the flight is normal.
For the current 2017, I am satisfied with the laptop.
You have a developer in your profile, so it may also be important for you that it may soon turn out that new versions of macOS will not be released under it, as well as the corresponding tools that will require the current version of the system
