Should I buy a 3-5 year old Macbook air for video editing?

Hello. I want to make some video tutorials, i.e. record a video presentation and overlay sound. I plan to buy a machine for video editing, the budget is 200-300 dollars. I want to do lessons in transport, for example, that is, the weight of the device and dimensions are important. I have a Macbook pro at home, but it's hard to carry around because my backpack is full of the most unexpected things. There is an opportunity to buy Macbook air mid 2011 or mid 2013. Question: will these machines pull the installation, if it makes sense to buy additional RAM for them and does anyone use such devices for this purpose?

It depends on the software used.
For example, Sony Vegas allows you to work quite comfortably on much older hardware. It starts to slow down only when you throw brutal special effects.
