Should a web programmer be able to draw / typeset / design?
Let me emphasize right away that I am not a programmer and it is far from a fact that I will become one, although I liked programming in itself and was interesting both at school and at the university. Now I slowly took up Python, in order to later try what Django is and create 2 simple web projects (one for PC inventory, the other for monitoring cellular communications and tariffs). But just like 10 years ago, and now, one thing frightens me away and even stops me in some way - the need to draw something, come up with a design, make up.
So, should a web programmer have such skills?

you programmer. :)
On business, subjectively.
Basic skills in layout, design, work in graphic editors, for a general understanding of the work of colleagues and the ability to conduct a substantive conversation, will be more than enough.
No, a web programmer does not have to be able to draw. A bunch of ready-made templates, choose for every taste and color. To typeset, it is enough to have basic skills to use Photoshop, take the color code, measure the dimensions, cut out the image....
If you want to create 2 web projects on your own, then you just have to invent and make up something. If there is a team of layout designer and designer for this, then it is not necessary to be able to do it yourself.
In the projects described above, special design with frills is not needed. Enough, for example, Bootstrap'a or Foundation'a. Deep knowledge is not needed there, but the experience gained in layout templates and basic knowledge of CSS3 is a useful experience. At the same time, you will get a completely "combed" appearance of the pages.
Should be able to type.
Draw ... everyone can draw, the question is how well. You need to know at least basic knowledge of Photoshop. But at the level of drawing the final version of the design and knowing how to work with shadows and correctly combine colors, etc. - a web programmer is not obliged, but in any case it will be useful.
Not all projects need a good and expensive design, I make websites 50/50, 50% my design and 50% I involve designers.
It should be typesetting, but it is better for a designer to create a design and draw.
It is better to know one thing well than to know a lot of different things a little bit, but not be able to do anything normally.
