Recommend softins for shadow copies for win 10 (the system is on one ssd) it is not planned to add another disk;
in server versions there is a feature that on the same disk, even on the same partition, you can make shadow copies (the history of file changes for a certain point in time)

shadow copies are a regular feature of ntfs and work at least with win7 (then only utilities had to be installed with msdn)
