Faced such a problem. There are 500 users who need to be put on 1C.
For implementation, Ubuntu 16.04 was chosen as the server OS.
Kubuntu 16.10 is installed on user workstations.
The question "what to do next" puts me in a stupor. Maybe someone knows good manuals on this topic? Or tips. I would be very grateful. I read that MySQL is not well suited for so many users, then what is better to use on Linux?

I do not share Artem's skepticism - I installed server Ubuntu 12.04 and I had a hundred 1C users feel fine. And the manageability of such a server is much higher than that of the Windows alternative. But what about MySQL? Are we talking about 1C right now?
Your steps:
1) Read about the system requirements of the 1C server on the official website - v8.1c.ru/requirements
2) Buy the missing software.
3) Conclude an agreement with an experienced DBA to support your DBMS (with your number of users, system optimization will be needed more than once). Here you can dig into the topic yourself - there are a number of articles on the infostart about the parameters of effective configuration of the most popular DBMS.
4) Set up a test bench on your architecture, then run load and scenario testing (either using scenario testing tools, or with the help of your users). Based on the results of measuring key parameters, you then decide either to try to launch, or to upgrade hardware, or to replace system software, or to make improvements to your 1C configurations for their more efficient and deadlock-free operation.
If you are horrified by what I wrote, then it is better to conclude an agreement with one of the implementation centers. An attempt to independently implement a system for 500 people by a specialist who does not have the relevant experience and knowledge smells like big problems for him (and sleepless nights and deprivation of bonuses can only be the tip of the iceberg).
