Sending an ajax file?

I welcome everyone! Need help.
There is a picture on the server that needs to be sent to the specified url using the POST method via ajax.
The examples that I found on the Internet were with input tags.
So is it possible to send a file without using the file upload form?
Is it possible to simply pass a variable with the path to the file in the request?
