Selecting a word with a double click (win7) captures the word itself + the space after it. How to highlight without spaces?

This also applies to selection in the explorer, and in the Word, and words in the browser. Those. The problem is at the system level, not individual applications.
I found various tips - hold the cursor for a second on the second click, or move the mouse slightly while holding it, etc. It really works, but it's no more convenient than manually drawing word boundaries with the mouse.
How to make Windows always and without additional gestures select only the word without a space after it by double-clicking?
