What is the best way to record video from the screen,
who uses what?
I want maximum simplicity and minimum weight, if possible Portable.

Watching what kind of video and for what purpose is it written?
I used to use Fraps to shoot something "their games";
To create training lessons - UVScreenCamera is a simple and lightweight tool that allows you to not only record actions, but also draw the user's attention to certain areas of the crane by color highlighting;
There is also a whole class of programs for "spying" on user actions, but Portable is most likely not among them. An example is staffcop. Only most programs of this class are paid.

For video, I used this thing www.uvsoftium.ru/UVScreenCamera.php
Somehow I made video instructions for users, for them I took the Wink utility www.debugmode.com/wink/ It captures screenshots from the screen after a specified period of time, and after editing it does flash movie. Of the pluses - the video is not heavy and you can add interactive objects.
