School video studio. What free software to use for streaming?

There is an idea to create a video studio at the school. There is a gigabit channel, a certain number of computers ... and most importantly, schoolchildren have a desire. We are currently in the contemplation stage.
Will dear ALL tell you what software will allow you to work simultaneously with several cameras, switch the stream from them, overlay text and graphics on the output image, use effects ... and throw all this into the stream on the fly. Basic operating system in Ubuntu school. Looked at dvswitch. Seems to fit. Maybe there are other options for free software?
PS
Came across FreeJ but haven't tried it yet.
PPS
It seems that I found what I need - WEBCAMSTUDIO https://code.google.com/p/webcamstudio/
It supports many web cameras and can switch them, it can use a video file as a source. There are some effects. As long as I have enough.
while I play with it. Connected four webcams.
