Samsung X620 phone: USB data cable without USB-to-serial. Is it possible?

Good afternoon!
I ordered a data cable on ebay for an old Samsung X620 mobile phone - I really need to get photos from it.
Does not connect to any. I turned to the seller (by the way, the Germans) - they said to install PIMS, try to run the program before connecting, after connecting, reboot, assign a virtual COM port to COM1 - no way.
And then it dawns on me that the OS does not see it as a USB device in principle.
Connected to linux - silence in /var/log/syslog.
I dismantled the connector that is connected to the phone - there is no USB-to-Serial chip at all, only wires. All calls perfectly to the USB connector, that is, there is nothing at that end, except for the connector (and there is no place there, it is tightly covered with insulation).
Am I correct in assuming that the phone itself hardly has a USB controller?
