Rollback to previous updates

Hello!

I am using the latest XUbuntu 12.10. I have it installed on my netbook. Everything would be fine, but the built-in Intel video card does not work at full capacity. I decided here on the advice on the forums to install the ppa repository: launchpad.net/ ~xorg-edgers/+archive/ppa

Of course, immediately sudo apt-get update and the updates started. The new kernel has been downloaded. Looking forward WOW! effect from the video card, we reboot the netbook, and we observe a black screen. The kernel cannot find the module, apparently for video.

I want to roll back to the updates now, before I added the ppa repository and updated from it. Is it possible?
Now I boot from LiveCD and connect to my system via chroot.

/var/log/apt contains installation logs. How to be further?

Try using ppa-purge (available in the standard repository).
There is also a useful article here - myubuntu.ru/faq/kak-ispolzovat-ppa-ot-launchpad
There at the end there is also about disabling PPA and about downgrading packages updated from PPA.

Unlike aptitude, apt-get does not remove the old kernel when installing a new one.
If you press ESC at startup, does the Grub boot menu open?
Does it have the old core? When you select it, also a black screen?
