How to install exim4 on debian 9.9?

Task:
- upgrade exim to 4.94
- upgrade proftpd to 1.3.7

OS - debian 9.9.

Added deb deb.debian.org/debian stretch-backports main contrib non-free deb to sources.list , but there is only exim version 4.92, there are no updates for proftpd.

The required versions are in the sid repository. But how to install from there without breaking anything in the system?
