Revive a deceased Nexus S

During the installation of the recently released Android 2.3.4 update, the brand new Nexus S suddenly died.

It happened like this: I received a message about the available official update 2.3.4. At that time I had 2.3.1.
The update was successfully downloaded and tested.
Then I ran the install.
In the process, the device rebooted 5 or 6 times, judging by the progress bar, starting the installation every time from the beginning.
Then he turned off and stopped responding to any actions. How to say "brick".

I took out the battery, connected the USB cable, wiped it with a flannel.

What can I try to do before sending to the seller?
The device was bought in the states and the exchange / repair, unfortunately, can be delayed

Maybe the battery is low?

Does it not turn on at all or can it boot into fastboot? If it can, then you can flash it.
