Review of a budget E-ink reader - if anyone needs it

I wrote the text not as a review, but as “share with friends”, therefore it never fits the Habr format, I did not dare to make a topic link even in “personal blogs”. On the other hand, my passion for multi-letters and the desire to put everything on the shelves manifested itself again, so there is quite valuable practical experience in relation to a specific model - Digma e500. I decided to share with those who are thirsty on Habré in such a tricky way.

Warning - there is a mat there, I stumbled on pictures from Yandex-images. However, I would venture to say that the text still has practical value for those who want or plan to buy a budget reader.

Clarification - I have nothing to do with advertising, the store didn’t mention it anywhere at all, the text itself is rather in enthusiastic colors - I liked it a lot :) In fact, we can consider this an advertisement for my blog - but I didn’t set such a goal, I’m not particularly striving for popularity in dairi.

I took it for 6550r, the main criterion is “Faster, I want it here and now.” At first I thought about Kindle, but at a very similar price, delivery was not satisfied with the timing and uncertainty that they would bring it, and not legumes and grains.

Well, the text itself is in my dairy :

Just don't fail the dairies, please. If, nevertheless, I made a mistake and it was worth posting on Habr, I can do that, with a link topic.

Does the screen flicker when scrolling? Sorry if yes.

It would seem that nudyatina is planned, of which there are a dime a dozen in the network ... But you chose exactly the model, the review of which I terribly wanted to read, but I still couldn’t get my hands on it!
Thank you.
More than 500 characters will not fit into the link topic, but I think this is still the format of a small topic, not a question.
And on the issue of price: Nook WiFi, as far as I know, comes out a little more than 5,000 rubles, along with delivery from the states and, obviously, has some advantages over digma.

I did not see anything budget in it, the price is higher than that of the Kindle with unlimited 3g.

And how are such devices with durability?
Carry in your pocket, periodically drop it (from your pocket / from the table), etc.
I don’t urge the topic starter to conduct a crash test, but maybe someone already has information?

I came across several times in the internet on messages that the device died, from a blow and even from working in the cold. I'm not sure, but maybe e-ink is afraid of frost.
As for shock resistance - when you take the reader in your hand, you really, really don’t want to drop it. It is thin and with a screen of large (compared to its thickness) dimensions ... It simply cannot be durable! On the other hand, in those moments when you put off reading for more than a minute, you automatically close the case. The cover is quite thick and soft, I think it is designed to save from "accidents".

Hurray-hurray-hurray!!! New firmware from 12/17/2010 :)
It turns out that the developers in this firmware focused on the most important jamb of this book - a glitch with flipping, and practically removed it. As it turned out from the discussion on the forum, sometimes it can be found, but already an order of magnitude less often than before - as I understand it, the developers cannot achieve repeatability in any way, while either one or the other owner of the book has a glitch no-no yes pops up .
Here is a link to the forum with a discussion of the new firmware , if anyone is interested.
Now I can advise this device without a twinge of conscience, now fb2 is scrolling like a human being.
