Retraining

Hello everyone, this is the question.
Not a beginner programmer, I wrote in C++/Java, now I work as a senior PHP developer, but I would like to change the development language, at least.

It is clear that this will have to be done in parallel with the work, but the direction is not yet clear. I looked towards Java, but after buying Sun, I vaguely imagine how they are doing.

I perfectly understand that any particular language cannot be advised, because the areas of application are different and the question is amateurish, but I would like to hear personal preferences for changing qualifications, if anyone has had such an experience recently. Roughly speaking, I am now considering Java / C ++ / Python.

Thanks in advance.

It all depends on the goals that you pursue in retraining.
A) In my opinion, if you want something really serious, you should hit work with clouds and distributed computing in C ++ .
B) And if it’s a radical, but interesting change in style - developing mobile applications on Android (Java and frameworks) or iOS (Objective-C 2.0 and frameworks) .

Try Flash for mobile development. Also a popular topic now, especially in QNX and products based on it: QNXCar and Playbook.

Java programmers often have higher salaries than others :)
