Replacing disks in the HP server with larger ones?
Hello. There is an HP server with an HP Smart Array P410i RAID controller. Currently installed drives are:
logicaldrive 1 (68.3 GB, RAID 1, OK)
physicaldrive 1I:1:1 (port 1I:box 1:bay 1, SAS, 72 GB, OK)
physicaldrive 1I:1:2 (port 1I:box 1:bay 2, SAS, 72 GB, OK)
SEP (Vendor ID PMCSIERA, Model SRC 8x6G) 250 (WWID: 5001438010E45A1F)
They have the OS installed and everything else. I have a couple of new 300Gb drives that need to be installed in place of the current ones. How to do it? On the Internet they write that you can pull out a disk "hot", insert a new one, wait for the array to be rebuilt, repeat with the second disk. But it confuses me that the disks are larger than the installed ones. And how then can I expand the virtual disk?

But it confuses me that the disks are larger than the installed onesWhat's the difference? Well, if the disk is smaller, the data may not fit.
And how then can I expand the virtual disk?Depends on the OS, on the FS, on what you mean by virtual disk, etc.
and who needs SAS drives now,
any cheapest ssd nvme is ten times faster and more reliable. And their prices are quite reasonable.
What is the profit then?
