Replacing CD-ROM with SSD/HDD in laptops?

And tell me, are there adapter cases for 2.5" HDDs in the form of laptop CD-ROMs? I use the drive once every six months, but sometimes there is not enough space on the SSD, I would stick an additional large-capacity HDD instead of a drive ...

But there is a significant downside. If the hard drive is in a SATA laptop, then it is often an IDE. Respectively…

I want to warn you about a few nuances:
1. the adapter may not have an attachment lug to the motherboard, the lug from the native drive may not fit - I cut out a new one with scissors from a tin can
2. the adapter may be smaller than your dvd drive in height and will remain quite big gap
3. bezel from Asus a53s (I suspect that from none of the modern laptops) does not fit the Espada SS95 with the location of one latch. It turns out that either I leave the bezel from the adapter kit, but it does not fit the design at all, or I cut off one of the latches of the native panel and glue it on the adapter, this will help me cover the very gap from point 2.
At the same time, the native panel is no longer restore, and on ebay it costs $30.
4. The build quality of the external box for dvd-rom can be just disgusting (espada usd01) and you will have to expand the bolt holes with scissors
In general, do not expect that everything will be easy like in Lego. When buying cheap Chinese adapters, you must be ready to finish them with your hands.

For Macs, this device is called optibay. I put an ssd disk on a poppy instead of a CD, the only thing that fits only 2.5 inch ssd.
