Remote Procedure Call: Access Denied?

Hm.
In some incomprehensible way (incomprehensible to me, at least), the Remote Procedure Call (RPC) service stopped starting for me. As a result, half of the system stopped working.
When trying to start the service manually, we get an Access Denied error (access rights - administrator).
The Properties option in the drop down menu does not work (probably due to a broken RPC service).
Is there any way to fix the system without reinstalling it?

Most likely some kind of virus took over. Try to go through the system with an antivirus, and after avz (http://www.z-oleg.com/secur/avz/). In addition, avz has a “system restore”, with the help of which it is quite possible to bring the system to a working state.
