Relocation of site categories to subdomains, how will it affect SEO?

Good afternoon!
I am developing a site that will be a kind of archive (library) of material, consisting of several categories: video, music, pictures, which in turn will have their own subcategories (for the category "video" -> subcategories "news, 20th century, 21st century and etc.").
I'm going to make the main page the main one, on which links will be placed only to the subdomains of the categories .
It turns out that the main domain will have only 1 page, and the subdomains will be a kind of "independent sites" (video.arhiv.ru). They will be united only by a link to the main domain - archive.ru and the keyword - archive.
I wanted to ask how search engines would react to such an archive site structure, the removal of categories to subdomains, and
Or maybe you shouldn't do that? Which is better for SEO?
Thank you!

Of the obvious and only disadvantages:
1) the individual static weight of each subdomain (for an info resource this can be critical) will be lower than if it were on one domain.
2) In fact, this will be the optimization of each subdomain.
In general, the most important thing is that people feel comfortable.

What for? Better subcategories. The answer was said above, it will be easier to twist. Otherwise, each subdomain will have to spend money and effort as a separate site.
Subdomains are relevant only if the key query is geo-dependent.
