What is SEO based on?

Greetings. Many articles have been written about SEO. And as a beginner in SEO, I would like to understand more and learn how to achieve that the site is in the first place for one word in the query. Is this possible, and what is the minimum amount of time it takes?
And in general, how and what to pay attention to when optimizing SEO?
And when we optimize everything, configure all the parameters and so on. The site is supposed to still not be on the first pages. Why? What else is needed for this?
More details, please)

SEO relies on some basics, experience, competitor research, and uncertainty.
Reading the comments above about "site for people" or "unique content" is just ridiculous. This is from the same series of myths that "a good product sells itself."
The rules of the game are constantly changing.
How to promote a site to the top. If we are talking about low frequencies, then you just create a page and that's it - you are in the top. If it's about midrange and treble, there is a huge competition, you won't get there with magic chips. Whoever dumped more money is in the top, and even then not always.

Are you waiting for a summary of the content of the textbook?
Or will they share some secret trick that allows you to bring the site to the top without any extra effort and cost?

The question is a bit non-specific ... what is programming based on?
Well, if the basics: writing content for low frequencies, using good usability and link mass.
But each category has its own subtleties, for a basic study of them, you can use Google, otherwise follow the trend of search engines.

Based on the analysis + recommendations of search engines that need to be done. If you don’t analyze why you changed it and it’s useful in POI or why you changed it and it’s not useful, then it won’t work. For each site is promoted by its own methods and approach.

It is worth looking in the direction of link exchanges or their aggregators, and do not forget about internal optimization
