Reliability of banks

Recently, financial issues have been extensively discussed on Habré, and such a concept as the “reliability” of a bank slips through.

What is the indicator of a bank 's reliability for you?
To what extent do you choose a bank in terms of reliability, how important is it for you in general?

The bank should be all right with security and there should not be a mess (also negatively affects security). Otherwise, the money may simply disappear and then it will be difficult to return them.
My IMHO:
Sberbank is a mess.
Alpha - moves somewhere in the direction where you can compromise access to money in a million ways, and even no one knows for sure all of them.

oh, well, there is only one criterion - what is the chance that the client will lose money. it may be from the revocation of the license, from the bankruptcy of the bank and from the decision of the owners of the bank.
revoking a license is usually done due to fraud and cashing. accordingly, these banks are risky, minus those whose license will never be revoked - VTB, Sberbank.
the bankruptcy of the bank is likely due to risky transactions with deposits, usually it is noticeable by high interest on deposits - that is, without performing risky operations, the bank will not be able to guarantee large interest.
the decision of the owners - we live in Russia - can be like, for example, during the default, when some banks issued deposits in terms of 29 rubles, and the savings bank said - only 9, and of course the state did not say anything against it.
On my own, I can recommend the avant-garde - it seems that it has not been seen in cash and is engaged in the construction of malt factories and VTB - it simply will not go anywhere.

complex issue. But if for me:
1) the bank must participate in the Deposit Guarantee Fund for individuals;
2) must be included in the 50 largest in Ukraine;
3) deposit rates should not be the maximum in the country.
Bonuses: state bank, a subsidiary of a large foreign financial group. If this is a subsidiary of a Russian bank, then this fact is neither a plus nor a minus.

At one time, I also asked myself a similar question and chose 2 banks for myself:
1. Sberbank - only for utility services and rare purchases (payment for goods and services in the Russian Federation);
2. Raiffeisen - he became like a legacy after the acquisition of Impex Bank at one time and have been using their services for 6 years now. These are mainly purchases abroad and the storage of savings.
The bank chose the rating www.banki.ru/banks/ratings/ customer reviews, the presence of branches and ATMs in the city, also looked at Raijfeisen Bank:
National
S&P - ruAAA
Moody's - Aaa.ru
Fitch Ratings - AAA(rus)

Rosselkhozbank is, in my opinion, the only completely state-owned bank (so far).

All banks are approximately equally unreliable, in my opinion, all deposits are insured, since the Central Bank does not give a license without deposit insurance.
If there is a global collapse in Russia, then you probably can’t immediately hope to return the money, at least that was the case with parents in 91, 94, 98.
In 2008, part of the banks closed, but all the acquaintances seemed to have received their 700k money from insurance.
In general, if I just kept the money, I would buy gold, it seems to be reliable, the probability that they will find a simple and cheap way of mining seems to me less than the financial crisis in Russia, and even if they find it, they will hide it, smart and all-powerful people have too much tied to gold.

If up to 700 tr, then any bank is equally reliable. If there is a little more money, then two banks are equally reliable... If there is more money and you don’t want to lay eggs in different baskets, then my opinion is banks with state participation, primarily Sberbank. Whatever processes take place in it, it will not be allowed to drown, even if the end of the world comes. Foreign banks are reliable in their own way, but their ratings are ratings of parent banks, not subsidiaries. If it presses at home, then Russian investors will pay less attention.
Other tools are now a risk. And even if you spend a lot of time and sort out all the little things, the risk is still high ... everything is very unstable in the world ... Even real estate is risky now :)

First of all, I look at whether the bank is a member of any of the funds for guaranteeing the return of deposits of individuals. I personally use Alfa-Bank, PUMB and PrivatBank in Ukraine.
